Back in the saddle again

After an amazing 5-days of eating and drinking ourselves up and down the Russian River Valley and Northern California coast for my birthday, I am officially back on the health wagon! AND very excited about it.

Despite a few almost 3,000 calories burned-weeks in September, I've pretty much been on a downward slide since my 30th birthday with too many celebrations, art openings, and great food temptations. I'm ready to regain some eating balance and moderation in my life while making healthy eating and exercise a daily habit, not just something that I do for 2 weeks and then don't do for 3 weeks!

That said, I joined Weight Watchers online this morning. As tedious as point counting can get, WW works and helps me exercise portion control and discipline with my diet. I weighed in at 175 lbs (a nice 3 lb gain from the holiday) this morning. This is 10 lbs higher than my lowest weight last year after doing WW for 9 months, but still 20 lbs lower than my starting weight of 195.2 lbs in January 2006. I really want to reach my goal weight of 145 lbs and I have missed my goal of doing it by my 30th birthday, but I know I can do it by my 31st birthday!

So I'm back. Expect more posts on this blog because it helps me keep accountable and stick to my goals. Expect I'm sure some bitching along the way, but I'm ready to recommit to my health goals and make them become a reality. Plus Andrew and Alison have also just joined WW so we can share our frustrations together!

I do have good news to report on my first day on WW. I was worried about being hungry all day, but I ended up coming in at 19.5 points for the day out of my 23 point allowance AND I'm feeling pretty full after my post-dinner fat free hot chocolate.

So here's to getting back in the saddle once again and really sticking to it....

Good luck getting back on the wagon!

I'm definitely having to try hard to be good as I get 10 extra points for feeding Isla and it is hard to use them all without being a bit unhealthy.

Great I know and I shouldn't rub it in...but whenever I quit feeding her it could be disastrous!

I'll try to not feel super guilty when I take you to dinner next week. Seriously though, wait until you see the spread at Postrio...man, I love that place.

I'm excited to try Rosemary's. I've heard so many good things.

Alison - I have the same fear.

you can only save four points just like if i wasn't feeding her...I've been super bad this week. i am dreading weigh in tonight!

I'm off for a walk to try and compensate for my over eating and drinking.
