Fried food is yuck

After weighing in so low yesterday, it made me not only get my butt in gear and work out before work, but it also made me want to continue making healthy choices so I could keep on losing. I did well at lunch eating a leftover bbq chicken salad, but dinner posed another challenge.

Carlo's parents wanted to eat at Chicago Brewing Company by our house, so we met them there after work. I had never been there before, and Carlo had only drunk a beer and played video poker there in the bar, so I didn't know what to expect. When I looked up the menu online, it turned out to be fried food city :( After much debate and time spent weighing all of my options, I decided that a plain hamburger was probably one of the "best" things on the menu. They had a couple of salads that could have been okay, but I had eaten salads for the last 3 meals and wanted something a bit more substantial. Plus most had blue cheese or bacon on them, and I wasn't going to tempt fate by getting a seared ahi tuna salad in a place like this. So I got my burger with no cheese, and swapped out a side salad with dressing on the side instead of fries. Carlo also had similar problems finding a healthy option and went the burger route as well. Even though it may not have been the best tasting or healthiest meal, I'm proud that we both made considerate choices and didn't admit defeat and gorge on fried fatty food.

Tonight I'm faced with another similar challenge. Carlo's brother Les wants to go to Salt Lick and bbq is really unhealthy for you (or at least the bbq I like of brisket, ribs, and sausage). I think Carlo may disown me but I'm going to have to get a salad because we are going to Rosemary's on Saturday night and I would much rather be bad there.

What if you cut the grizzy pieces off of the brisket and used minimal, measured out sauce?

i ended up eating a baked potato with everything on the side, a dinner salad and carlo gave me some of his chicken breast to put on top of my salad. it was pretty good in the end.
