For the past week I have been obsessed with watching You Are What You Eat on BBC America. It is a great tv show to watch. My mum had told me about after she was in the UK sometime this year, but I had never watched the show until I accidentally caught the last half of an episode last week.
All I can say is that it is AWESOME and helps fill my Biggest Loser-void since it is on twice a day every week day. I have set the DVR to tape it, so every night I have 45 minutes of pure joy watching other people who had horrendous, and I do mean horrendous eating habits turn into healthy eaters and be a shadow of their former selves.
The show functions on two levels: the first realization is that I'm not really as big of a pig as I sometimes think that I am and I lead a much healthier lifestyle than many people. The second realization is that if these people who eat half a tub of butter a day, or seven Indian take out dishes for just one dinner can lose weight and get healthier then I certainly can do it too!
One of my favourite parts of You Are What You Eat is when Gillian, the crazy Scottish nutritionist, puts all of the food that the subject had eaten in the last week on a table. The amount of food is usually horrific, but what is even grosser is that the majority of food is white and fried and includes no colour. There is no colour (aside from beer or wine) in all this food because it seems like no one ever eats any fruit or veggies. Every time Carlo and I see another gross spread, we always say to each other that our food spread would be so much better and have much more colour to it.
Instead of being a couch commentator, I have decided to keep track of all the food that I eat in one week and will post that list on Sunday. I just hope that it is as healthy a diet in reality as I think it is in my head :)

I was truly amazed when I watched that show; especially the one I saw with the single mother feeding her child kebabs all the time!!
