so far so good

Yesterday morning we did our usual hit the snooze button so many times until it was too late to go running. However, we made up for that by going for a 45-minute walk after I got off work last night. It was the perfect night to go walking with amazing weather and all of the trees and bushes in bloom around the neighborhood. I felt very zen-like once we got back to the house. I know walking doesn't burn very many calories (only 245 calories last night), but it is very relaxing and I always feel good afterwards which I sometimes don't when I have a hard run. Despite it not looking possible this week with after-work commitments, I would like to try and go for a walk every night after work with Carlo in addition to a more vigorous morning workout.

I signed up for a 3-month swim pass yesterday at lunch with the best intentions to hit the pool this morning. However, the snooze button won yet again and by the time I got out of bed at 7:10 am it was too late to drive to the pool, swim, drive back, and get ready for work. Instead of just staying in bed which is what I really wanted to do, I woke up and popped in a Kathy Smith fitness DVD. I had bought these and the whole Jillian from the Biggest Loser boxset last month but I hadn't used them yet. I ended up doing the 5-minute warmup and then the 20-minute lower body workout. Even though it was only 20 minutes, it was still hard! God knows how many squats and lunges I did. I'm surprised that I can walk this afternoon because my legs and butt were burning. Thank god Carlo had stayed in bed and wasn't privy to my uncoordinated moves around the living room! I would like to try and do these videos more often because I easily have 25 minutes a day to make my butt shrink.

Off to the opening reception for Wolfgang Puck's new steakhouse Cut at the Palazzo. Fingers crossed I won't go too off the wagon tonight, I've got a weigh in tomorrow morning.
